A picture book for young children by Margaret Mahy, who has won the Carnegie medal twice and the Esther Glen Award of the New Zealand Library and Information Association three times. The story about an aunt and a parrot left alone who decide to hold a party of her own, has a feminist influence. Mahy's text is full of alliteration. The colourful illustrations by Patricia MacCarthy use a batik style.
