When the Glove Puppet Man discovers his beautiful theatre in ruins he rushes off to Mrs Smiley and her second-hand stall for help. On the way he meets a number of friends, each with their own difficulties. The book's illustrator, Emma Chichester Clark, won the Mother Goose award in 1988.
